As the name promises, the perfume strives to encapsulate the beauty of life with a delicate composition of carefully selected ingredients. Created by three of France’s leading perfumers, Olivier Polge, Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo, La Vie est Belle’s top note and key ingredient is the scent of Iris, the middle note of patchouli contrasts the feminine top note with its strength and depth while the sweetness of orange blossoms, jasmine, black currant and pear add youth and playfulness to the fragrance. The warm and powdery base perfects the compositions with balanced notes of tonka bean, praline and vanilla.
But Lancome’s mission to describe the beauty of life doesn’t end with the perfectly engineered scent. The beauty brand re-designed one of their classic flacons from 1949 to become the ‘home’ of its scent and chose none other than Pretty Woman herself, Julia Roberts, to become the face of their campaign shot by Tarsem Singh – the director behind films such as Self/less starring Ryan Reynolds and The Cell with Jennifer Lopez.
And if all this is not enough to convince you to give La Vie est Belle a try, know this, I have only been wearing it for a week and have gotten countless compliments.
